What we’re often asked

1 How does the contact form work?
A form has to send the enquiry by email, and that needs a mailbox that allows sending. We use your own mailbox: we set up the form once so that it sends through your existing email address. We need your login details once, and then it runs.
If your hosting doesn’t allow sending, or you don’t have a suitable mailbox yet, we use a trusted sending service based in the EU. These services are usually free for small volumes; for larger volumes the provider may charge its own fee. We’ll tell you beforehand what to expect – no surprises on the invoice.
And a word on honesty: we do not send your enquiries through our own mail server. That may sound convenient, but it would mean your customers’ data passes through us and you depend on us. Your mailbox, your data.
What are the ongoing costs?
A website permanently needs two things: a place on the internet (hosting) and your web address (domain). On top of that comes maintenance: security updates, backups and new content.
With us, that comes in one price: the hosting package from €50 a month covers technology, domain, SSL and backups. The all-round plan at €150 a month adds all changes and a personal contact – then the website is no work for you at all. All prices excl. VAT, plus 17 % VAT.
If you already have your own hosting, it stays with your provider. We charge a one-off fee for setting things up there, because it takes working time.
I’ve found cheap hosting. Isn’t that enough?
Sometimes yes, often no – and unfortunately you only notice later. Very cheap offers typically lack automatic backups (if something breaks, it’s gone), an SSL certificate (the browser shows “not secure”), PHP or email sending (so no contact form works), and the servers are often much slower.
We’ll tell you honestly beforehand what your provider can and can’t do. What’s missing there, we can’t replace – but we’ll build a solution around it. That extra work is charged separately, because the saving on hosting just moves the work to us.
Our own hosting package uses NVMe SSD storage, daily backups, SSL and a global delivery network. You don’t have to worry about anything, and we can step in ourselves straight away if there’s a problem.
Can I change the content myself later?
That depends on the package. With the Starter package, the site is deliberately kept simple, without an admin area. We make the changes for you: included in the all-round plan, otherwise charged by time. You simply email us the new texts and photos.
With the Pro package, you get your own admin area, built for exactly your content. You manage text, images and events yourself, without first learning a big system. If the design needs to change, we still take care of that.
How long until my site is online?
For the Starter package, expect two to four weeks; for the Pro package, four to six weeks. The timing mainly depends on how quickly we receive your texts and images – in practice that holds things up more often than the technology.
Do I have to come to you for the conversation?
No. We’re just as happy to advise you by phone or by video call – you don’t need to install anything or create an account. You receive a link, one click, and the call runs in your browser. We use kMeet by Infomaniak or, if you already know it, Google Meet. If the technology ever plays up, we simply switch to WhatsApp video. If you’d rather meet us in person, we’ll also come to your business or meet you at our place in Beaufort.
During the build, too, we coordinate however suits you: by email, by phone or with a short video call when something needs to be looked at together.
Why not WordPress?
WordPress is built for large, constantly growing websites. For a business site with four pages it mostly brings drawbacks: longer load times, regular updates and plugins that need looking after, and security holes if someone forgets.
We write the code ourselves. The result is faster, needs almost no maintenance and has no third-party parts. If you want to manage content yourself, the Pro package gives you a lean admin area of your own – with only the features you really need. If you already have a WordPress site, we’re happy to keep looking after it, though.
What if I need more pages or features later?
No problem, the site grows with you. We charge for additional pages separately, at a fixed price per page. With the Pro package, the same goes for modules: you can add another one at any time. You know the price beforehand, not afterwards.
